Place de la Concorde
The Concorde Square has been created during the 18th century by the famous architect Gabriel. The obelisk situated in the middle is 33 centuries old : it has been placed here in 1836, back from Egypt. During the French Revolution King Louis the sixteenth and his wife, Marie Antoinette, were executed there.

Hôtel de Ville
Crossing the Arcole's bridge, you arrive at the City Hall : elegant and impressive, it has been rebuilt during the 19th century in a Renaissance style. The equestrian statue in front of it represents Etienne Marcel, the first Mayor of Paris, in the 14th century.

Le Louvre
On the right bank of the river Seine, the Louvre Palace is the largest monument in Paris . The first fortress was built in 1204, but the construction of the palace ended only in 1858 : that's why it presents different styles. First of all, a residence for the French kings, it became a Museum in 1793, one of the richest in the world today.

Notre Dame
It took about two centuries to build Notre Dame cathedral, from 1163 to 1363. The impressive portal of this gothic cathedral is surrounded by two 69 meters high towers. Notre Dame is famous for its sculptures, gargoyles as well as for its stained-glass windows.

Musée d'Orsay
On the left bank of the river Seine, the former Orsay station was built by Laloux in 1900, for the World Exhibition. It has been turned into a famous museum for 19th Century art, where one can admire impressionist canvas from Renoir, Monet and many others.

Pont Alexandre III
The Alexandre III bridge is one of the most elegant in Paris : it reminds the Franco-Russian frendship at the end of the 19th century. Just one single 110 meters wide span crosses the Seine. The arms of St Petersbourg, and two nymphes representing the Neva river, are on one side, and the arms of Paris with nymphes for the river Seine on the other side.

Tour Eiffel
The Eiffel tower was built by Gustave Eiffel between 1887 and 1889, for the 1889 World Exhibition. It was a real technical challenge in those times : the tower is 320 meters high and weighs 7000 tons. Three levels are open to public, where you can find shops and restaurants.
